Dead End Street

(Krüger 1)

Published: 18. March 2015

Two professors are dead – one at the University of Bonn, the other at St. John’s College in Oxford. Is it the same perpetrator in both cases? The investigators, Detective Chief Inspector Krüger in Bonn and Detective Chief Inspector John Blackmore in Oxford, are at a loss. Can the solution be found in an unsolved murder on the Rhine decades ago?

The Bonner General-Anzeiger writes: “A new, promising crime writer enters the stage. […] a very solid debut with a carefully constructed plot, an exciting storyline, subtle allusions and varied characters, which makes us wish that Krüger & Co. would investigate again soon.”

Readers’ comments:

Schaffrath reminds us of the rule “Show it, don’t tell it” in a grandiose way. He lets his characters speak. And how he lets them speak! You can tell that he studied theology and German. It’s wonderful how he shows us what we can do with our language. The crime thriller, which is set in Bonn and the twin city of Oxford, is also a city guide that takes us to places worth seeing in the cities.
